The Business Events Data Programme measures business event activity in New Zealand. It focusses on MICE events
(meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) attended by at least 30 people. Public and social gatherings
like weddings, dance parties, church services, concerts, sports events, and consumer events are outside the scope
of the programme.
The programme is funded by Business Events Industry Aotearoa (BEIA), the Regional Convention Bureaux and MBIE.
This is a ‘by industry for industry’ research programme
Business events are an important but often hidden contributor to the New
Zealand economy. The Business Events Data Programme addresses this problem by collecting and reporting valuable
information about the main components of the business events sector.
VENUES
We collect data from venues about MICE events they have hosted to measure
regional and national business event activity. Participating venues receive confidential market share reports.
Quarterly regional and national reports will be available for free download from October 2020.
